Multicultural Events

Throughout the calendar year there are many multicultural events scheduled for Cairns and the surrounding region.

August 2013 – South Sea Islanders 150th Anniversary

August 2013 marks the  of the arrival of the first to Queensland, brought as indentured labourers for the primary industries. The Australian South Sea Islander (ASSI) 150 Project commemorates this anniversary.

September 2013 – Peace Event

Cairns Regional Council invites the community to celebrate the International Day of Peace by participating in FREE events being held around Cairns during the Peace Event 14 to 22 September. Join us as we work to build bridges of intercultural understanding, reconciliation and tolerance for opposing viewpoints throughout the region.
