International Women’s Day Lunch
Every year in March, women come together sharing their amazing stories to empower other women
Was established in 2014 at the Mercure Hotel, Cairns. On average, more than 150 multicultural ladies attend the IWD.

Harmony Day
Harmony Day celebrates the cohesive and inclusive nature of Australia and promote a tolerant and culturally diverse society in Cairn’s region.
Community comes together to sing and dance, to share food and drinks. Includes children’s activities and cultural shows.
CARMA Gala Dinner
CARMA Gala dinner aims to celebrate Cairns diverse communities and recognised those who are working to foster more cohesive society.
It is a formal event that has been successful for many years, held end of November every year.

Cairns Multicultural Festival
Cairns Multicultural Festival ( ex-Tropical Wave Festival) was established in August 2005. Community groups benefit from the festival getting involved. It raises their community’s profile and helps them stay connected to the wider communities in Cairn’s region.
Typically the festival consists of:
50 Cultural Group performances, singing/choir, youth empowerment talent quest, storytelling, traditional dance classes.
International Cultural Fashion Show by 50 cultural groups showcasing their beautiful traditional attire.
15 International/Cultural Food stalls.
20 Art & Craft Stalls from different community groups (African Jewellery Making, braiding hair, Masai dress up, Pacific Island Women Weaving Demonstration, Flower lei demonstration, Korean batik Show & Tell and much more.
Children’s Activities- traditional educational activities- Japanese Origami, Pacific flower leis threading, palm leaves artwork making aeroplane, fans, boats, learning new cultural language, music, and dance.

CARMA works collaboratively and collectively with the community groups in the Cairns Region, Cairns Festival, Cooktown Multicultural Festival, Mareeba Multicultural Festival, Babinda Harvest Festival, Port Douglas Carnivale, and many to more.
